1. Of the judgment of the court of first instance, the part against the Defendant ordering payment exceeding KRW 8,440,000 to the Plaintiff.

1. Basic facts

A. From March 1, 2006 to February 28, 2015, the Plaintiff was in office as an assistant professor at the Hongk University maintained and managed by the Defendant. Two joint research in the academic field of “B” on February 11, 2014, “C” on October 25, 2014, two joint research in the academic field of “D”, “E” on December 12, 2014, and on December 23, 2014, published a thesis of cultural and social sciences and arts sciences (hereinafter collectively referred to as “E”).

B. The Defendant paid research funds to the teaching staff who published the academic thesis, and related parts of the relevant regulations on the management and operation of the internal academic research fund (hereinafter “the research fund regulations”) are as follows.

Article 2 (Definition of Terms) The definitions of terms used in this Regulation shall be as follows:

1. The term "expenses for academic research within the school" means expenses for the promotion of academic research, expenses for research on policies, expenses for research on new professors, expenses for supporting publication of academic papers, expenses for research on overseas research, etc., and research funds provided by the accounts of the industry-academic cooperation foundation;

5. The term "expenses for supporting publication in academic papers" means expenses for research that are paid to teachers to encourage publication and publication of excellent academic papers in the international payment of aesthetic arts, academic support, or domestic scenic arts;

12. The term "domestic aesthetic academic payments" means academic sites, such as places registered as research foundations in the Republic of Korea (place of registration as research foundations in the Republic of Korea) and candidates for registration as research foundations in the Republic of Korea;

Article 4 (Confirmation of Support Plan for School Science Research Expenses) The Support Plan for School Science Research Expenses shall be determined after obtaining approval from the president at the proposal of the president.

Article 5 (Qualification for Application for Research Expenses in School) (1) Qualifications for persons eligible for payment of the expenses for academic research in school pursuant to this provision shall be as follows:

4. Support expenses for publication of academic papers: A full-time teacher who has published and published an academic thesis on the international grant of distinguished science or the domestic grant of distinguished science in the year of transfer.
