Defendant shall be punished by a fine of KRW 10 million.

To order the defendant to pay an amount equivalent to the above fine.

Punishment of the crime

Where a person who has produced a timber product intends to sell it or to import it through customs clearance, he/she shall undergo an inspection of the standard and quality of timber by the Korea Forestry Promotion Agency, and no person who has filed an import declaration shall obtain permission, approval, recommendation, certification, or other conditions necessary for import pursuant to statutes, or import by satisfying such requirements or conditions by fraudulent means.

Around January 23, 2014, the Defendant imported wood pellets, etc. from a foreign country and sold them to the development subsidiary of Korean power, and C, an employee in charge of purchasing pellets of the said Defendant, who was an employee of the said Defendant’s company, imported wood pellets 127,50 kilograms from the Korea Forestry Promotion Agency, which was not inspected on the standard and quality of wood from the Korea Forestry Agency, and cleared through customs, from around May 20, 2015 until May 20, 2015, the Defendant imported and cleared wood pelpellets pellets equivalent to the total amount of KRW 9,791,380km (market price 2,370,249,076) of the wood pellets pellets in total of 33 times as indicated in the list of crimes in the attached Form by the said method, without undergoing a standard and quality inspection

Defendant 1 did not exercise due care and supervision to prevent a violation of customs clearance by importing wood pellets, the employees in charge of which did not undergo the inspection of standard and quality of timber as above.
