1. Basic facts

A. A supplier of new and renewable energy, such as solar energy and wind power, may obtain a certificate (REC; hereinafter referred to as “supply certificate”) evidencing the supply from the Korea Energy Corporation’s New and Renewable Energy Center. In order to trade the supply certificate, a supplier of new and renewable energy, such as solar energy, shall trade in a trade market established by the supply certification institution, as prescribed by the Regulations on the Issuance of Supply Certificates and the Operation of the Trading Market, under Article 12-9(2) of the Act on the Promotion of the Development, Use and Diffusion of New and Renewable Energy (hereinafter “New and Renewable Energy Act”).
