피고인은 2015. 6. 20. 09:20경 피해자의 주거지인 위 203호 현관문 앞에서 중식용 칼(전체 길이 약 30cm, 칼날 길이 약 18cm)을 들고 문을 두드리면서 닫힌 문 안쪽에 있는 피해자에게 “왜 나를 고소했냐. 가만 안두겠다. 니들 목을 다 따버리겠다.”, “너 복도에서 마주치면 가만 안 둔다.”, “내가 너희들에게 뭘 잘못했어. 내가 경찰서까지 갔다 와가지고.”라고 말하면서 피해자에게 마치 위해를 가할 것처럼 하여 피해자를 협박하였다.
