The charge of violation of the Punishment of Tax Offenses Act among the facts charged in this case is acquitted.

No person shall clear any timber product that has failed to undergo standard or quality inspection from the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute, and no person who has filed an import declaration shall import such product without meeting the requirements for permission, approval, recommendation, certification, or other conditions necessary for import under statutes or import such product by fraudulent means.

On May 29, 2014, the Defendant’s fuel team staff imported wood pellets 1,039,280km (market price of KRW 278,050,175) purchased from B around May 29, 2014, without undergoing a standard and quality inspection of timber from the Korea Forestry Promotion Agency, from that time until August 28, 2015, the Defendant’s fuel team staff imported timber pellets 1,039,280km (market price of KRW 278,050,000) in total 97,607,242km (market price of KRW 27,310,037,018) in total from August 28, 2015, without undergoing a standard and quality inspection.

As a result, the Defendant did not undergo the standard and quality inspection of the employees in charge, and did not exercise considerable care and supervision over timber pellets that did not meet the import conditions in the name of the Defendant to prevent such violations as importing, clearing through customs, etc.
